Topic: Obedience to God's Instructions is Holy Living

Obedience is a fundamental aspect of holy living, as exemplified by the story of the young rich man in Mark 10:21. When the man approached Jesus, seeking to know what he must do to inherit eternal life, Jesus reminded him of the commandments. The man confidently replied that he had observed them from his youth. Yet, Jesus lovingly pointed out his attachment to wealth and instructed him to sell all he had, give to the poor, and follow Him. Sadly, the man walked away in sorrow, unable to part with his riches.
This story teaches us that partial obedience is not enough. While the man kept many of God's commandments, his unwillingness to let go of his wealth revealed a heart not fully surrendered to God. We must ensure that nothing—whether riches, relationships, careers, or pleasures—takes precedence over our obedience to God's instructions. God requires total obedience, for only then can we experience the fullness of His purpose in our lives.

Another powerful example of obedience is found at the wedding in Cana (John 2). When the wine ran out, Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus instructed. They followed His directions completely, filling the jars with water, which He miraculously turned into wine. This miracle was a direct result of their complete obedience. It demonstrates that when we follow God's instructions without hesitation, He works wonders in and through us.
As servants of God, we are called to live in holiness by obeying Him in all areas of life. Obedience is the key to aligning ourselves with His will, allowing Him to bring out the best in us. Let us commit to listening to God's voice, following His instructions fully, and walking steadfastly in His ways. In doing so, we honor Him and experience the blessings of holy living.
