Topic: The Consequences of Unholy Living
Text: Revelation 20:11-15, 21:8
Today, we gather to reflect on a sobering truth: the consequences of unholy living. Throughout the Bible, we witness the immense love of God, who sacrificed His own Son to redeem us from sin and death. Yet, alongside this love lies another truth—God's righteous hatred for sin. We've witnessed His love for the children of Israel, and yet, He brought judgment upon them for their persistent disobedience.
Revelation 20:11 paints a vivid picture of the earth and heavens fleeing from the presence of God. Who is this being that commands such awe and reverence? He is truly worthy of our worship. Therefore, we must ask ourselves, do we truly fear God? What does it mean to fear the Lord? We must recognize both aspects of Christ's nature: the gentle Lamb and the powerful Lion of Judah.
In Revelation 20:12, we see books being opened for judgment on the last day. Among these, the most crucial is the Book of Life. When your book is opened, what will be written of you? Will your name be found in the Book of Life?
Revelation 21:8 solemnly warns of the fate awaiting those who persist in unholy living—the lake of fire. This is the final destination for every unrepentant sinner.
In conclusion, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 reminds us of our ultimate duty: to fear God and keep His commandments. Let us heed this call, for it is our whole duty as human beings.
