Jesus Christ: God’s Approved Son

In Matthew 17:5, God declares, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.” This statement affirms the centrality of Jesus in our faith. The early disciples didn’t preach about various topics, but about the person of Jesus Christ. Their message, focused on “this Jesus whom you crucified,” led to powerful revivals.

To grow in our faith, we must study Jesus' life—how He prayed, led, interacted with others, and lived daily. God desires to see Christ’s life reflected in us, as only that life pleases Him. Philippians 2:5 reminds us, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Jesus' life is the path to pleasing God. When He said, “I am the way” (John 14:6), He meant His life is the only way to the Father. Anything outside of Christ’s example may miss God’s purpose for us.

On the Mount of Transfiguration, when Peter suggested building three tabernacles for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, God interrupted, directing them to listen to Jesus alone. While Moses and Elijah were great prophets, it is only Jesus we are called to follow.

Let’s examine our lives—who are we following? Only by following Jesus can we please God. Let’s preach Jesus and Him crucified, and revival will come as we focus on Him.
